My Roots.
My fascination with social media began in the seventh grade. As an only child, I lacked the portrayed relationship with an older sister that involved makeup and boy advice and most importantly, stealing clothes from a closet. Because of this void, I wanted to help other girls my age by researching various topics on the Internet. The Instagram blog “Tips for Chicas” was born. On this account, with the help of two other girls, emerging fashion trends, lifestyle tips and tricks, and even recipes were shared. Before I knew it, a collaborative community of empowered girls from across the nation was formed. When I realized the power of social media had on young women and the ability it has to make them more confident, the void I had was filled with a feeling more than content.
My interests outside of the digital world have stemmed from my upbringing. I was born in Anchorage, Alaska, but raised outside of Charlotte, North Carolina. I am lucky enough to go back to Alaska every summer to visit my family, where we enjoy hiking, tide pooling on the beach and baking the most delicious desserts! I also love thrifting clothes, capturing moments with my friends on my camera and daydreaming about the day I’ll live in an eclectic apartment in San Francisco.
